Default How disappointing...

Damn...

When did collector item values get nerfed?

For instance, the Jeweled Chalice from Poli is no longer valued at 300g but for only 100g. Considering that Insect Carapaces inherent value was only 20g, vendoring 5 of them would earn one only 100g.

However, if one just ran over to Poli and traded 5 Insect Carapaces for a Jeweled Chalice, one could make an additional 200g above the inherent value of 5 Insect Carapaces...

Now, it seems all collector items are worth only the inherent value of the collectible items times the quantity needed.

The nerf must have been since the last update... Anyone else notice this?

I have also noticed this, I used to trade margonite masks at a collector as some items were worth 300g but now there all worth 100g.

That's not against the EULA.. Lol. They just used their minds what to do with those worthless merchant items. Like the old Troll Tusks trick. Keke.

first, i beg to differ with your characterization of "nothing." with your vein of reasoning, the "green drop" you get is "nothing." so you shouldn't be able to make money off of it except for the stated value of it...

second, buying low, selling high is not detestible.

it's called: Capitalism

preventing people from making a profit is called: Communism

You can still make a profit...just stop being so lazy and sell the things to other players. You'll probably make a larger profit.

Now how many people do you see on the streets buying a JEWELED CHALICE?

Exactly

Your reply demonstrates your sophomoric understanding of the original post. Additionally, your ease with which you presumably characterize me as lazy only further underscores your lamentable intelligence.

I would submit that there is nothing lazy about making a "running build" to navigate to collectors in the middle of explorable areas to trade items for things like the Jeweled Chalice.

Furthermore, by inference, you're equating "selling to other players" as being not lazy, while selling to a vendor as being lazy. How pathetically narrow-minded!

Besides the blatantly obvious point that ephexx so eloquently brings out above, there are many reasons why people would prefer to deal with in-game mechanics to further ones economy instead of spamming the chat channels.

In my case, I'm a 30-something professional with a family who does not have a lot of time to sit there and "sell things to other players." I'd rather spend my allotted play time to actually play - not waste time engaging in the laborious prospect of spamming items for sale with no guaranteed certainty of an income.

Still, obviously you're free to call me lazy all you want. Nevertheless, I would guess it's better to be called lazy in a fictitious game, rather than in real life... which is probably why you have more time to engage in spamming your "Jeweled Chalices for sale" to other players...

I farm hard cash. And when I'm not doing that, I'm usually buying cheap stuff from complete noobs who never even heard about guildwarsguru. So usually I get like a gold chaos axe for maybe 40k sell it for like 200k... You know.. the usual

lol

But my favorite thing to do in the game is farm. Not greens, but actual drop farming like it used to be in the good ol' last year. So I usually don't have to buy low-sell high.

Also, towards the actual topic.. Anet really did know that people were going to farm collectors items. But now that everyones complaining and saying 'OH MY GOD EVERYONE HAS A STACK OF ECTOS AND 89102348U238014U039k AND I HAVE 24 GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' So they're stopping the flow of money. That's what all the farming nerfs were for too.

btw, this is just what me and my small laid back 9 man guild thinks.

Lmao.

Anet nerfs things because if they didnt money would be worthless because everyone would have it, rare skins wouldnt be rare, and greens would be worth nothing. Deal with it and find another way to make money. Farming builds/spots/tricks are discoverd every day. Try them a lot before Anet discovers them and move on to the next thing. Its called...getting rich.

no offense to you collector item people, but if you seriously are making 300g per run from 5 items it is well....sad. try something else more profitable, like green farming. any idiot in their sleep could farm a melee boss, do that. deathbringer sells for an easy 10-15k and is able to be snagged in like 5 minutes. so if you are spending 5 minutes making 300g then whining about it because they nerfed the price of a collector item, thats just sad

generally speaking, folks I know of who 'collector farm' bring 1000+ collector items yielding ~200x300gold or to translate 60k...

everyone has their own ways of making money, and everytime theres a change in game mechanics folks start crying nerf. Its just a change, you'll likely find something fast and efficient to replace it before too long. Hell you may even enjoy it more

I SO AGREE!!!

I LOVE farming, that's all I do, and I love getting gold drops, gold being an item, and i also like farming spots that drop dyes, armors, and just plain cash...

And it is a LAW that nothing was better than the good old Griffon farming days, in the desert, 55 monk ftw!

Then A Net decided it would be cute to put in some spiders and take out the griffons and nerf their drop rate. Typical a net..

haha there's still a place to farm griffins, but I'm not saying where. It's in the desert though. It's not all that great.. you can't aggro more than 3 at a time, there's wurms everywhere, and you don't get anywhere near as good of drops as you used to. So I don't do that farm at all.

And I'm glad there's another one of us, I usually piss myself whenever I see a new build that kills mobs.

not kidding.

Everyone knows where those griffins are, it's not like you are the keeper of some international secret.

Geez....

Since u encountered wurms, that has to be the bunch of griffons outside Dunes of Despair, 1 teleporter away.

Easiest nest of griffons to farm can be found in Skyward Reach, due south of Augury Rock, in a narrow pocket where there are no rockshots. Just need to run pass a few hydras.

2nd bunch is in the Scar just outside Destiny's Gorge, take the left path. Occassional rockshots.

As i recall each bunch is only around 12-14, and the wurms/earth elementals outside Dunes make it the most troublesome to farm. Congratulations for knowing this uber secret farm spot. Skyward reach is a no-brainer, just run there and hack away.

Not quite worth the time, solo UW or FOW is more profitable, but possible training ground for 55's i guess.
